Paris Art Installation

I did an art installation at EP7 in Paris! My work stretched across many large screens for all the pedestrants to see.

What is an art installation?

An art installation is a work of art created specifically for a particular space or site. It is often a large-scale, immersive artwork that uses various mediums and materials, such as sculpture, video, sound, and performance, to engage the viewer and transform the environment.

Unlike traditional art forms that can be easily transported, an art installation is usually created to be experienced in a specific location and interact with its surroundings.

Art installations can range from temporary exhibits to permanent installations in museums, public spaces, and galleries. The goal of an art installation is to create a unique and memorable experience for the viewer that challenges the way they perceive art and the world around them.

What is EP7 Paris?

EP7 is a cultural center located in the heart of Paris that has gained a reputation for its innovative approach to showcasing digital art. Its most iconic feature is the impressive 12-screen display that covers the entire facade of the building, offering a unique platform for artists to share their work with the public.

From morning to evening, the display offers a variety of content, including local news, curated artistic works, and even behind-the-scenes glimpses of what's happening inside the center. This eclectic mix of programming has helped establish EP7 as a hub of creative activity in Paris, attracting both locals and tourists alike.

How did my art installation come to life in Paris?

I was invited to participate in an art installation in Paris by Brawhaus, a web3 talent agency. To fit the large screens, I created new animations and rearranged my previous works. I also made collages to ensure a consistent theme across all screens. It was an enjoyable exhibition, and I was even contacted by a Parisian film student who used footage from my installation in her student film.

What are the challenges with making a large-scale art installation?

To accommodate the large screens, I had to adjust the scale of my footage, which was a similar challenge I faced when creating visuals for the Nxt Museum. To address this, I employed a technique of combining multiple small videos into a single collage to fit them onto the smaller screens throughout the facade. Additionally, I had to extend the rendering time for the animations due to their larger size.
