Milan Fashion Week

AR fashion show for Adriana Hot Couture

What is Milan Fashion Week?

Milan Fashion Week is one of the most prominent events in the international fashion calendar. It is a biannual event that takes place in Milan, Italy, showcasing the latest collections from some of the world's most renowned fashion designers and brands. Milan Fashion Week typically occurs in February/March for the Fall/Winter collections and in September/October for the Spring/Summer collections.

During Milan Fashion Week, fashion houses and designers present their upcoming season's clothing, accessories, and footwear to the global fashion industry, including buyers, journalists, celebrities, and fashion enthusiasts. The event consists of a series of runway shows, presentations, and special events where designers can display their creative visions and innovative designs.

Milan is known for its rich fashion heritage and is considered one of the "Big Four" fashion capitals of the world, alongside Paris, London, and New York. Milan Fashion Week plays a crucial role in setting trends and influencing the fashion industry worldwide. It attracts attention not only for the high-quality craftsmanship and luxurious designs but also for its unique Italian style and elegance.

Designing for the Spectacle

In the heart of a rationalistic architectural marvel, the Adriana Hot Couture show for Spring Summer 2021 emerged, dazzling onlookers with its neon-lit windows. I was thrilled to be part of this captivating event, having contributed to it by designing three unique accessories: a belly ring, a necklace, and platform shoes.

Bringing Accessories to Life with 3DS Max and Vray

Using the creative power of 3DS Max paired with Vray, I embarked on the task of crafting these standout accessories. I meticulously designed each piece, ensuring they exuded the perfect blend of elegance and extravagance. With the neon-lit ambiance of the show in mind, I aimed to create accessories that would seamlessly integrate into this world of virtual and real.

From High Poly to Low Poly: Making AR-Ready Accessories

Once the designs were complete, the next step was crucial for the show's immersive experience. I had to transform these high-detail accessories into low-poly versions, optimized for Augmented Reality (AR). This process involved baking materials and refining the geometry, ensuring that the accessories would shine in the AR realm.

An Enchanting Blend of Real and Virtual

Amidst the limited space and the challenge of getting up close to the models, a sense of haziness enveloped the atmosphere, blurring the lines between reality and virtuality. Though part of me wished to believe in the illusion, the undeniable truth was that it was all real.

Immersive Technology: The Show's Secret Sauce

What added an extra layer of enchantment to the looks was the infusion of immersive technology. Digital accessories, including the ones I designed, along with shoes and makeup, seamlessly complemented the outfits, turning spectators into active participants in the show. Filters played their part in spicing up the experience, and it left me wondering why we would ever want to ban them.

The Essence of Modern Reality

The Adriana Hot Couture show epitomized the essence of reality as we perceive it today. In a world where the boundary between real and artificial blurs, it's not about what's genuine or fabricated; it's about what's hot, and this show unquestionably sizzled with style and innovation.
